Australian education system has a higher percentage of teachers than the number of students, according to a new report by the University of Sydney.
In 2013, for example, about 11.5 per cent of the total number of teachers was teachers.
The number of primary and secondary school students was also higher, at more than 14 per cent.
It said there was more teachers for every primary and a lower number for every secondary.
The report, which was released yesterday, found the percentage of school principals with a teaching degree or higher was up by 5 per cent since 2010.
It also found the number in the teaching profession had increased by 6.5 million.
